Simposium ini merupakan inisiatif di bawah Pelan Induk Cerun Negara oleh Kementerian Kerja Raya dan Jabatan Kerja Raya sebagai agensi teknikal negara yang terulung dalam bidang pengurusan cerun.
Program yang julung kali dianjurkan ini akan disempurnakan oleh Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Menteri Kerja Raya membawakan tema Way Forward – National Slope Master Plan. Objektif program ini adalah untuk mencapai matlamat pengurusan cerun negara yang mampan, mengoptimumkan platform seminar dan pameran untuk perkongsian pengetahuan, pengalaman, dan amalan terbaik juga memperkasakan kerjasama dan penyelarasan antara agensi
